Origin

Our name and our philosophy literally stem from our Roots! Root Lab was founded in 1974 by Merton L. Root, D.P.M., the developer of the functional orthotic. Dr. Root was a pioneer in podiatry who revolutionized foot care through research and education in biomechanics. In 1978 Dr. Root’s son Jeffrey joined the Root Lab team. Today as president, Mr. Root continues to oversee the company’s tradition of excellence in orthotic manufacturing envisioned by the founder.
